nikki and justin [engagement session]

Yesterday I got to photograph my best friend since 7th grade and her fiancee. They have known each other FOREVER and have been dating since our senior year in high school. I think there is a story about them kissing in elementary school or getting "married" in elementary school...it's something cute that I can't remember right now. Anyways, we had a blast yesterday and I can't wait to finish editing and blogging more pictures, but for now, here is a little sneak peak of what's to come later on in the week!! I can't wait for your wedding in November!

sara [creative director, personal assistant, awesome sister]

Yesterday Sara and I went into Houston to take pictures of Nikki (my best friend since 7th grade) and her fiancee (who i've also known since 7th grade and who she has been dating since the end of our senior year in high school). To put it short and sweet, Sara was AWESOME. She carried the gear, carried shoes and watches, tromped through the water to check out the fountain, posed Nikki and Jusitn when we needed inspiration, and provided a lot of entertainment throughout the day. She is by far the best assistant and creative director EVER and and even better sister. Lots of love to you, Sara...now don't kill me for posting this picture, haha.

around san antonio [carver dancers]

This afternoon Matthew and I went to see a girl in the youth group perform at the Carver Center. She's been dancing for a LONG time and tap is her speciality, although we saw her in a ballet performance the other week and she was fantastic at that too, so I don't know how one is her specialty and not the other. Anyways, here are a few pictures from some of the different groups performing.

ken-david [san antonio symphony conductor]

Matthew and I know some really cool people here is San Antonio who have some really cool jobs. Yesterday I blogged some pictures of Becky - the pastry chef at Coco Chocolate Lounge and Bistro, and in my opinion, the best pastry chef in San Antonio. She was recently featured in the San Antonio Express News for her work at Coco's. Her treats are amazing. But this post is about Ken-David, conductor for the San Antonio Symphony. He is so energetic and enthusiastic when he leads the symphony and it has been so delightful to photograph him and get to listen to the symphony. I shot some in color, but I prefer them in black and white.

recent conversations

I've had a few recent conversations with an interesting fella named Ray. He's an older man and I've been going back and forth with him about a project I'm working on that deals with 6x10 foot photographs. All of our pictures are coming from the Institute of Texan cultures and I have recently spent a lot of time over there going through photographs and doing some research for this project. On Thursday last week, Ray came into the office for a meeting. During this meeting, he told my project manager that I had the guys over at the Institute wrapped around my finger. I could get them to do anything for me. These aren't his exact words. I can't remember them, but they were a lot funnier and had much more of a "she's a slave driver" connotation. Oh Ray.

On Friday I went over to visit Ray's workshop and he gave me a tour of the entire facility and introduced me to everyone as Laine..."Laine is an intern...Laine's last project...Laine went to A&M...Laine, Laine, Laine..." The first time he said it, it could have passed as Haley and I thought maybe that's what he said. But then he used my "name" 4 times in the sentence following his introduction and before I could correct him, everyone knew me over there as Laine...however, I talked to him on the phone yesterday and he called me Haley...strange. Oh Ray.

Yesterday I called for a quote which he promised me yesterday afternoon. I still haven't received it. But in the middle of the conversation, he asked if I had considered a career in politics...Oh Ray...what are you thinking? He asked for my email address. All I could say was, "H-B," before he asked me to spell it...haha...Ray.

Today, he told me that any good intern should be able to figure out how to get a 6x10 foot print into a 4x4x8 foot elevator...especially one from A&M...oh Ray...was that a joke?

Lucky for me, I'm not finished dealing with him. Ray - thanks for the laughs.
