This morning opened all of my images from my semester abroad in Italy during the fall of 2006. I am starting to create a 12x12 book combining all of my favorite photographs from those three months and all of my journal entries. I'm really excited about this project, although it will be a long one. To make the process easier, I created an action to re size all my images appropriately, save into a certain folder, and close. I've used actions before, but this was only the second time I created one specifically for my own purposes and I am super excited about the amount of time it is saving, going through over 1600 photographs for me, haha...it's all about efficiency over here.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this one image with you...it might be one of my absolute favorites...well, there are many, but this one represents everything Castiglion Fiorentino was to me. I used to run from the church down into the mountains every morning, blasting my iPod in my ears (it's a wonder I can still hear). Running in Italy is my favorite memory. It was so peaceful, so perfect. We stayed in the old monastary that had been converted to dorms for students studying in Italy. It was to the right of the church. And every morning the bells in the church would ring. It was the most beautiful noise in the world. Castiglion Fiorentino was perfect for me. It's a small community that thrives on the students coming and studying there. All of the community loves the students. We got free pastries, lots of smiles, and some giggles as we struggled through the language. I miss Italy...I'll make it back one day, but for now...the church:

around san antonio [irene]

part of the San Antonio ABC book includes a spotlight on 10 people around San Antonio. One of the spotlights was on Becky who makes cakes and works for Coco's. Another one is on Irene, a hair dresser for K Charles. The salon just did a "hair fashion show" and I was there to get a few shots of Irene getting her model ready. Her theme...infinity.

On Friday I got to spend two hours with Vegsady and Juan shooting their engagement pictures. These two are getting married in January and from what they were saying about their wedding plans, it sounds like it's going to be a really fun wedding. Thanks for driving down from Houston to spend the evening with me!

geoffrey [crate trained]

This week Matthew and I got Geoffrey a crate to sleep in during the night. We're having trouble potty training him STILL. He's good for a month and then the next month he goes to the bathroom in the house while we are sleeping multiple times a week. We are hoping this fixes our problem. So far, it has been great. I was so worried that he would cry all night because he was used to sleeping with us. On the day we brought it home, Clementine was very curious about it but Geoffrey wasn't so sure. We put a treat in there and he went in and got it. Then he came out to eat it. We repeated the process a couple of times until he sat in his crate and ate it. When we put him in there in the evening for bed, he went right in, got his treat, and laid down. He hasn't cried all week and I've even come in during the day to see him just laying down in it. It's such a relief that he already feels comfortable in his crate. He's such a smart dog. He's almost learned the word "crate." His newest trick is singing, but that will have to be posted with a video. Clementine doesn't care to sing, but she loves to shake your hand. When we brought the crate home, we brought a new toy for Clementine (can't hurt her feelings). She loves her new toy, but it doesn't give her treats like the crate gives Geoffrey treats. Whenever we open the door to let Geoffrey out, she runs in and sticks her head in to look for treats...haha...I don't have any pictures of that or of Clementine with her new toy (she was a bit camera shy), but here are a dew of Geoffrey's new bed!

around san antonio [arneson river theatre]

While taking pictures for Alex and Kelly's engagement session, we stumbled upon some dance companies rehearsing for their recital at the Arneson River Theatre. There was a crowd that had congregated across the river to watch the dancers and we paused to get a few shots of them...i love the culture in San Anotnio.
